Nancy has been fascinated by art as far back as she can remember. As a child, art was always the highlight of most days. She came from a family where art was always on the table, her mother was a well-known artist and crafter in the Ottawa Valley and two of her sister’s are professional artists. Nancy knew from an early age that she wanted be an artist and is a graduate of St Lawrence College in Fine Arts and The Ottawa School of Art.
In Nancy’s twenty plus years of painting, she has had numerous solo shows and has participated in many group exhibitions. Her work has been written up in several art publications such as Studio Visit Magazine, Art and Beyond, Vallarta Tribune, Ottawa Citizen and more. As well she was juried and accepted for an artist residency in Europe and received numerous accolades for her art.
Her best advice for anyone aspiring to be a professional artist is to “Paint as often as you can and paint with your heart and soul, from your heart and soul……and most of all never worry about making a mistake, because there are no mistakes in painting! “Acrylics are so easy to work with and so forgiving that a mistake often becomes something fabulous!”
Nancy is a firm believer of taking each day as it comes. When she is in the studio she loves to just let her brushes move to the music, allowing her painting to flow and evolve as the journey with every painting is what really matters.
Nancy views each day in the studio as an adventure and such a blessing! Being an artist never loses its appeal I feel excited about every painting idea that comes to me and even more excited once I am standing in front of my canvas, palette and brush ready to let it flow, what an exciting process! Nancy’s focus has always been on playing with light and shadow and bringing that contrast into each painting, further emphasizing that wow factor with colour!
